Job Posting: Childcare Coordinator (Short Hour, Non-Exempt)

Our Lady of Fatima Parish is seeking a dedicated and experienced Childcare Coordinator to join our team on a short-hour, non-exempt basis (15 hours per week). This position offers a flexible schedule based on parish event needs, including evenings and weekends.

Job Description:

The Childcare Coordinator is responsible for planning, implementing, and managing childcare services for approved parish events. The role requires the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise Nursery Staff and Volunteers:
    • Oversee and train nursery staff and volunteers, ensuring adherence to Safe Environment training, background checks, and established policies.
  • Staffing and Training:
    • Manage scheduling and maintain timesheets, recruiting and training volunteers to ensure proper adult-to-child ratios.
  • Event Childcare Coordination & Collaboration:
    • Coordinate childcare for parish events in collaboration with ministries, volunteers and staff.
  • Nursery Maintenance:
    • Ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming nursery environment.
  • Record Keeping:
    • Maintain accurate attendance, sign-in/sign-out logs, and budget.
  • Safety and Reporting:
    • Monitor and report safety concerns, ensuring compliance with administrative, policy, and facility-related requirements.
  • Substitute Responsibilities:
    • Step in to provide childcare when necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with young children; must be at least 21 years old.
  • Skills:
    • Strong communication, organizational, management, and interpersonal skills; proficiency with basic software applications.
  • Understanding of Child Development:
    • A solid understanding of child development for nurturing care.
  • Health and Physical Requirements:
    • Must provide a Child Care Provider Medical Report completed by a doctor and be capable of performing necessary physical duties.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must consent to a criminal background check, including checks against the vulnerable person’s registry, sexual offender registry, and the Department of Children’s Services indicated abuse perpetrator registry. Passing these checks is a condition of employment.
  • Must be willing to sign a form allowing access to Tennessee and national criminal history through the TBI and FBI, with passing results as a condition of employment.
